Too Cold?

People don’t realize the temperature of their swimming pool will be far too cold to enjoy for 9 to 10 months out of the year. Sounds hard to believe, but those are the facts. Most of us enjoy pool temperatures of at least 80 degrees. A few hearty souls can take the plunge in the cool 70’s but for the majority of us Floridians it’s 80 degrees plus, or no thanks! A swimming pool you can’t use the majority of the year doesn’t sound like much of a return on your investment. Now you can enjoy your swimming pool investment year round with a pool heating system From Direct Energy.

Swim Year Round

Here’s how it works.

The system has two water temperature sensors: one (5) near the pump and filter and another (2) up at the solar collector panels. Whenever the solar collector panels (4) are about four degrees warmer than the pool water temperature, an automatic control system (1) activates a motorized valve (3) to send pool water through the solar collector panels. Set it and forget it.

Collector Assembly: Headers are molded directly to the extruded absorbers, in two-inch widths. Panels are built in nominal four-foot widths by thermal welding the two-inch molded header together. Absorber strips are sonically welded together for easier handling. Molded corner pieces permit precise connection of panel arrays for error proof, watertight installations.

FAQs

Do I really need a Pool Heater in Florida?
Florida swimming pools with screen enclosures generally fall below 80 degrees from October through May. We enjoy swimming weather through much of Spring and Fall but night temperatures keep the water temperature below. With a Solar Pool Heater you can usually double or triple your yearly swim time comfortably. Since we have to maintain our pools for the whole year and only swim for 4 months, it doesn’t reflect a very attractive return on our back yard paradise.

Do they really work?
A properly sized and installed solar system should deliver comfortable swimming temperatures from Mid March through early December. Compared with conventional pool heating methods like heat pumps and gas, a solar system can show a payback in as little as 2 years!

When the air temperature falls below your pool’s water temperature, large amounts of heat energy are lost off the pool surface through evaporation. A pool blanket blocks this evaporation, which allows your pool to remain at a higher temperature. Heating your pool without a pool blanket is like trying to air condition your house with all the doors and windows open.

How long do they last?
A high quality solar system should last in excess of 15 years. There are no moving parts to break and no maintenance. That’s typically twice as long as gas or heat pump pool heaters. Hi-Tec Solar Panels have a Lifetime Warranty.

Is there any maintenance?
With no moving parts and the use of aluminum mounting hardware, there is absolutely no maintenance. Panels that have the “separate tube design” unfortunately trap leaves and Pine needles in between the tubes causing maintenance headaches as well as an unsightly appearance. The Hi-Tec product has a curved web design that does not experience this problem.

How much do they cost?
There are many variables is determining the cost of solar pool heating. The cost will vary between $1800 and $6000 depending on: 1. Surface area of the pool in square feet, 2. Desired pool temperature, 3.How many months out of the year will you swim, 4. How complex the installation of Solar Pool Heating would be on your home or business
